ABOUT US SADDLEBACK PORK GALLERY THE REST OF THE FARM CONTACTS PURCHASING CHRISTMAS HAMPERS 2009

At Glanrafon Farm, we do not only farm Saddleback pigs, we have pedigree Hampshire Down sheep, commercial beef cattle and commercial sheep.

Pedigree Hampshire Downs - our pedigree flock began in May 2004 with just one Ram (Chance), two shearling ewes and two ewe lambs.  Since then it has gone from strength to strength and we currently have 3 rams and 19 ewes.  We lamb every December and show every summer.  In 2007 we won Supreme Champion with our ram lamb and have won many interbreed champions at local shows.  The pinnacle came this year however, when we won Champion of Champions with Glanrafon George, our shearling ram (pictured left).

The commercial beef cattle is Martin's love.  We are currently growing our herd and are starting to breed our own commercial beef.

The current herd started around 4 years ago with Misty, a Limousin x Belgium Blue heifer.  Martin won a first prize with her in the Royal Welsh Show and she is now a very much loved member of the farm.  Pictured right.

In the St.Asaph Winter Fair 2008, Martin won overall Reserve Champion with May, the heifer pictured left.  As with the Hampshire's, we show the commercial cattle every summer and winter at all our local shows and the Royal Welsh.

Our commercial sheep are supplied to a company that supply top London restaurants.  Predominantly Texel and Beltex X's, they are bred for their supreme meat to fat ratio, offering a unique texture and quality of meat.

In the Denbighshire & Flintshire Show 2008 and 2009, Martin entered on behalf of his son Tomos in the junior carcass competition where he won Junior Champion on both years.
